How prints are made

Every print begins as a painting, and the goal at every step is to carry the feeling of the original all the way to the finished work.

Step 01 — The Original

It starts with
a real painting

In the printmaking process, nothing is generated or invented — the source is always one of Sofia's original artworks. Starting with a genuine painting is what gives a print its depth, its texture, and its color.

Step 02 — Capture & Color-Match

A high-quality photograph of every brushstroke

The painting is captured at very high resolution under controlled, even lighting. It is then proofed against the original in the same room, adjusting until the file matches what the eye sees — the exact violets in a shadow, the warmth of an ochre hill.

Careful color-matching results in a stunning end-product, making the print almost indistinguishable from the original painting.

Step 03 — Giclée Printing

Archival inks,
museum standards

Prints are made with the giclée method — archival pigment inks laid down on museum-grade cotton canvas or heavyweight archival rag paper. These pigments are rated to resist fading for 100+ years, so the color you receive will last a lifetime.

Canvas can be finished gallery-wrapped and ready to hang, or shipped rolled in a protective tube; paper prints arrive with a soft matte finish.

Step 04 — Hand-Embellishment

Finished by hand,
one at a time

After the giclée print is out of the printer, Sofia works back over it by hand, adding real brushstrokes of paint that catch the light and give the surface genuine texture.

No two embellished prints are identical — each becomes a small original in its own right, signed by Sofia Sharbat.

Embellishment adds real painting texture to a print.

Step 05 — Finishing & Authenticity

Inspected, packed &
authenticated

Each finished piece is inspected in good light and optionally framed, then packed by hand in archival, protective materials and shipped fully insured and tracked.

Every limited-edition print also ships with a Certificate of Authenticity — hand-signed by Sofia and individually numbered — confirming it as a genuine Studio Sharbat work, traceable to the original it came from.

What arrives at your door is meant to feel like receiving an original painting — because, in every way that counts, it is.

Finishing and packing the print

Each finished piece is checked, then packed with care.
